Three killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon, health ministry says
Three people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across southern and eastern Lebanon overnight, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. The fatalities included one person in the town of Ramadiyah in the Tyre district, where 15 others were wounded, and two additional deaths in the Nabatieh region. In total, the strikes hit five sites spanning Nabatieh, Tyre and the eastern Bekaa area, targeting locations the Israeli military identified as Hezbollah infrastructure.
Israel’s Defense Forces said the attacks were a direct response to an attempted Hezbollah assault on Israeli troops the previous day, during which a drone was launched toward the Israeli security zone. The IDF claimed the strikes hit “weapons storage facilities” used by the Iran‑backed militant group and released video footage that appeared to show one of the hits. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated on Friday that operations aimed at “thwarting terrorism” would continue with “full force” in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank.
The latest violence comes amid an escalating confrontation that began in March, when Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel in retaliation for the killing of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, Israel has intensified its campaign against Hezbollah, conducting repeated airstrikes and even launching a ground incursion into Lebanese territory.
